Kilkenny artist takes center stage with new show kicking off this week
John Rice, a promising local artist, will take to the Watergate Theater stage this Wednesday and Thursday (September 8-9) to present his new show “Light, Dark and Diverse”.
Light, Dark and Diverse promises to be an eclectic spectacle where Rice performs a series of captivating monologues and musical theater numbers from a variety of well-known productions.
Recently awarded a seat at the prestigious London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art (LAMDA), the sale of tickets to John’s show will go directly to fund his tuition fees.
For John, this incredible and well-deserved opportunity is about fulfilling your potential, expanding your horizons, and growing as a performer and as a human being.
“I’m proud to be educated in one of the best performing schools in the world – being a part of that tradition is cool, really cool,” Rice writes.
“I have a desire in me, my stomach, a burning enthusiasm to continue to advance towards an acting training.”
Light, Dark and Diverse will be directed by Christine Scarry of the city-based Red Alchemy Theater Company, and Rice praised the role she has played in its progression.
“Christine has played an important role in my development as a performer and as a person and I thank her for coming on board, for directing this show and for helping me make this project fly”, Rice said.
Rice also thanked the “amazing” team at Watergate Theater for supporting their project and giving them the venue and use of all of their facilities.
