Indian-American entertainer and singer Avanti Nagral to perform at IAF New England gala

BOSTON — Budding Indo-American entertainer and singer and songwriter Avanti Nagral will perform at the American Indian Foundation’s annual New England Gala, known as AIF, on March 31 in Boston.

Nagral, one of the first to earn a double degree from Harvard University and Berklee College of Music, combines her background in various genres – Indian Classical, Broadway, Church / Gospel and Devotional – into a modern Pop-Soul sound.

Recently, Nagral unveiled a new track titled “Treated” which emphasizes compassionate humanitarian behavior. Inspired by her personal experiences as well as stories of women who have faced domestic violence, marital rape and bad relationships, the song promotes the importance of taking a stand in any type of relationship.

Nagral was nominated for Best Actress in a Leading Role for her portrayal of Agnes in ‘Agnes of God’ at the National Theater Awards in India, recorded an English-Sanskrit pop-devotional fusion album, performed in venues across India in the northeast to the United States and toured the Philippines.

“I recently released a single called ‘Treated’ which is a song I wrote for myself when I was 12; a song that boosts my sense of self-worth, ”Nagral said, adding that his crew shot the clip in Boston with a group of student filmmakers, technicians and actors from Emerson, Boston University, WPI and Berklee.

She released the song worldwide on iTunes and Spotify! The song was produced by a Mumbai-based production company, Flying Carpet Productions.

Nagral is also passionate about global health and development. She has worked in the areas of music therapy, anemia, organ donation, heart disease, heart disease, CPR / emergency care and mental health, through research. , advocacy and the creation of initiatives.

She launched an educational tour to schools across India, hosting performance workshops and sharing her journey in the hopes of encouraging students to pursue their own versions of passion and purpose, in the United States, and will do so in other parts of the world soon.

The AIF will hold its annual fundraising gala on March 31, 2018 at the Renaissance Waterfront Hotel in Boston. The gala is co-chaired by Kunjan Anjaria & Vikram Mahidhar and Asha & Kim Shah. The theme of the 2018 Gala is “Connect: Connect with a Cause, Connect with Ideas, Connect with the Community”.
