NEW YORK, September 18, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Marva Hicks Tahaan award-winning actor and singer from Petersburg, Virginiadied in New York City on September 17, 2022. A Howard University graduate, Hicks’ performing credits span 4 decades.

Her powerful, distinct and sensual voice was heard on her debut album “Marva Hickswas released in 1991 with a Top 10 single “Never Been in Love Before”. michael jackson and Stevie Wonder as she toured the world.

Marva, three times Helen Hayes Winner of the award, was a fixture in the theater community. Her Broadway credits include “Motown”, “The Lion King”, “Caroline or Change” and “Lena HorneThe Lady at Her Music.” She has performed in numerous Off-Broadway productions, touring the country with her final performance in April 2022 of “Angry, Raucous and Shamelessly Gorgeous” at the Alliance Theater.

Hicks’ extensive film and television credits include “Mad about You”, “Star Trek”, “A life to Live” and “LA Law”. She has lent her voice and talents to many non-profit organizations, including the Ronald McDonald House. She was very proud to be a member of Broadway Inspirational Voices for many years.
